Our lumber department leverages both Alpines size and strong vendor relationships to buy mill direct and from key specialty wholesalers. Our size allows us to buy direct carloads with a capacity of 3000 plus cars per year at our two reloading facilities. Many of our vendors have been with us since our inception and those strong and loyal ties allows Alpine to maximize purchasing opportunities at all levels.

We currently source lumber from both the Western United States and Canada with our main focus being the Inland Region of Idaho; well known for the quality appearance of its timber and stable characteristics of the wood.

What is FSC?

The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to responsible management of the world’s forests. FSC sets high standards that ensure forestry is practiced in an environmentally responsible, socially beneficial and economically viable way.

Independent certification organizations are accredited by FSC to carry out assessments of forest management. They then determine if standards have been met and to verify that companies claiming to sell FSC-certified products have tracked their supply back to FSC-certified sources. This certifies that you can trust the FSC label.

Because Alpine Lumber Company is truly committed to being environmentally responsible, socially responsible and economically viable, we have worked hard to achieve our FSC certification. We not only offer FSC certified products, but operate as an environmentally responsible supplier in our industry.

What is FSC Lumber?

Lumber that is FSC certified has been responsibly harvested. Trees are individually selected for cutting and are replanted in a bio-diverse manner. Thus, the forests remain healthy and strong with few of the pesticides, herbicides or fertilizers used in traditional industrial forest. Each log is tracked in a chain of custody from forest, to mill, to lumberyard in order to certify its authenticity.

Why Use FSC Lumber?

FSC certification is beneficial to people and nature. It is shown to improve the conservation status and enhance the biodiversity levels of forest, improve pay for workers, increase the attention to worker safety, provide training for workers and stimulate the development of community infrastructure.
